Is 3D Struggling to Become Mainstream?

Cepro.com has an interesting article on 3D adoption.   The net of it is that most folks don't really care about it.  With the economy down, people have other things to worry about.  This technology would have been great if it had been introduced about 5-10 years ago when people had the time to care about it.

Surveys show that most people aren't going to buy a 3D TV or 3D home theater projection system any time soon.  The technology is too new, lacks any standards, requires proprietary glasses and there's not enough content to justify the added expense.  If money didn't matter, sure, get a 3D set up.  If money does matter, and it should, get the best quality HDTV you can if it has 3D or not.  Eventually, industry pundits think that it will be baked into the TV anyway by 2012-2014 and you won't pay any extra for it.  It will just become a feature of every TV just like HD is today.
