An article at Greentechgrid.com asks a great question for companies pursuing the consumer side of the Smart Grid with energy management and monitoring:
| "How much hardware and attention is the consumer willing to devote to save ten or twenty percent on their electric bill? How long before those displays and devices end up in the kitchen drawer?" |
Monitoring electricty usage is all the rage right now. There are new monitoring devices and gadgets coming out everyday it seems. What's their value though? How much do you need to spend on these devices to tell you what you probably already know?
Lighting and heating and cooling are the 2 largest percentages of your overall utility bills. Take steps to reduce them and you don't really need to monitor your usage. Simple.
