Component is Almost Dead
In an editorial at ravehome.com, the demise of component video was mentioned. Today you can output HD video over both HDMI and component video from a Blu-Ray player for instance. At the end of this year, this will stop. The industry has agreed to limit the output of the component output to 480i/p. This will in essence only give you standard definition output and force you to go HDMI for everything where HD is desired.
Hmm. Sounds like some upgrades are needed. Contact us to get started.

Cepro.com also has an article on the topic. The net is that at the end of 2010 manufacturers of Blu-Ray players will not include component connectors on future models. This will force the use of HDMI. If there are component connectors, they will be limited to 480i or standard definition (SD) output only. Today they output HD content just like the HDMI does.
So if you want to distribute HD content from a Blu-Ray player to anything other than a local HDTV or receiver, you will need to invest in distribution via baluns that maintain the HDMI protocols.
