There are two additional wired methods not mentioned in the article.  The first is ethernet over your existing electrical lines.  With this method, you can literally use your homes electric wires in the walls to be an extension to the network and allow devices to communicate.  The second is ethernet over your existing coax cable.  Same thing- you can use existing in-wall coax cables to connect devices to the network.  No new wires needed.
