Everybody loves a cozy master bathroom. Many people have an attachment to this room more than any other- although a kitchen is a close second. In this highly personal space, we get ready to go out or to work. We relax in the shower or tub. We've heard that some people even get reading done in there (wink wink). Your bathroom is your place.
As we discussed previously, bathroom and kitchen remodels offer the highest return on your investment. These rooms will basically pay you back for your investment and then some when you go to sell your home. The key is to get potential buyers to have an emotional attachment to the room like you do. This is what sells it.
Technology plays an important role in helping you to both enjoy your personal place and seal the emotional deal for others when you go to sell. Typically, the technology portion of the overall remodel cost is small relatively speaking. So, what can you do? What are some master bathroom tech ideas?
- Add an HDTV- as in the photo above, to watch the morning news before work. It can be discretely hidden behind a mirror and only visible when turned on. Alternatively, an HDTV can be added on a wall or ceiling mount, but then you always see it even when off. Be careful about moisture.
- Add speakers and control for music- create the right ambiance with just the right music. Discrete in-ceiling speakers can play music at the touch of a button to listen to the local news or soft jazz.
- Add lighting control- set the best mood with a lighting scene for taking a bath. Alternatively, you can automate the lights with motion andoccupancy sensors that can detect your presence and turn on the lights.
These are just some ideas for maximizing your enjoyment and investment in a master bathroom. These aesthetically pleasing lifestyle enhancements can also be extended into the rest of the master suite- master bedroom and dressing room. The key is to use technology to complement the decor in the space and enhance your lifestyle while in that space.
