Media Center vendors, such as, Niveus Media, Exceptional Innovation, S1Digital and Inteset, are introducing high-powered capabilities to deliver always-on, secure, reliable, high-performance digital entertainment and automation platforms for the home.  In an eHomeUpgrade article, "Niveus Media Gets Hard Core in Whole Home Entertainment", the new Niveus line of dedicated Media Center console are discussed.  These consoles are powered by some of the latest Intel Core 2 Quad processors for processing entertainment and distributing it simultaneously in HD to several TV's across your home network.

Currently, the Niveus n9 with the new processor and 4 cablecards can simultaneously record multiple HD TV streams and enable you to watch live or recorded HD TV on up to 6 TV's.  All without breaking a sweat.  Niveus says that the n9 is likely capable of more cablecards and Extenders, but is currently limited by Microsoft.  They anticipate the restrictions to be lifted and allow them to offer more entertainment options for consumers.
