Raised on Screens

An interesting study on 8-18 year olds who, as they say, are 'raised on screens'.  Over the last 5 years, users of laptops and cell phones, etc. are getting younger, they are spending more time in front of some sort of display (TV, computer, cell phone, etc.) and they are consuming ever increasing amounts of online content and broadband bandwidth.  Combine that usage pattern with more and more devices connected to your IP home network and and endless stream of new uses for your broadband connection- entertainment, information, education, security, work, etc.- and you can see that the trend will only accelerate for this age group and others as well.

The study also pointed out the negative side of this trend among the 8-18 year olds.  It found that the heaviest users of technology and content were also the least healthy, had feelings of sadness and boredom, worse grades and were generally prone to problems at home and school.  Hmm.  What do you think?
